Wisconsin basketball prepares for March Madness first round game

The Badgers had a 35-minute workout Wednesday in Denver in advance of their NCAA Tournament first-round game vs. Montana Thursday.

The Wisconsin Badgers will reach the Sweet 16 in March Madness.

That was the most popular answer when we asked readers how far the third-seeded Badgers will get in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

Of the 135 readers who answered our poll, 66 — nearly half of them — said Wisconsin will win its first two games to get the Sweet 16 before losing.

The next most popular response was that the Badgers would win one more game than that — 30 readers said they’d reach the Elite Eight.

Among the less optimistic readers, 23 said Wisconsin would win its first-round game, against Montana on Friday, before losing in the second round. Five readers said UW would lose in the first round.

Then, there’s the super-optimistic group. Five said the Badgers will get to the Final Four and six said they’ll win the national championship. No one said they’d get to the final and lose.

Wisconsin will get to the Sweet 16

“They have a pretty easy path to the Sweet 16.”

“I think they have a bitter taste in their mouth from the Big Ten Championship. They’ll get some rest and make a little run but they’re in a tough bracket.”
