Kansas basketball coach Bill Self previews Jayhawks’ game vs Furman
Check out everything Kansas basketball coach Bill Self had to say this week ahead of the Jayhawks’ game on Saturday against Furman.
The Furman men’s basketball season was cut short.
The Paladins (25-10, 11-7 SoCon) fell to North Texas 75-64 Wednesday night in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament at UNT Coliseum in Denton, Texas.
It looked like it could be anyone’s game, with Furman taking a 34-32 lead at halftime.
But the Mean Green (25-8, 14-4 AAC) outscored Furman 43-30 in the second half and ran away with the win.
Freshman guard Eddrin Bronson led the Paladins with 15 points. Tom House and Nick Anderson combined for 25 points.
The dynamic guard duo of Atin Wright and Jasper Floyd came up big for North Texas. Floyd finished with 19 points, seven assists and six rebounds, and Wright scored 18 points.
This marks the Paladins’ third time in the NIT. They first made it in 1991, when they lost to West Virginia 86-67 in the first round. In 2019, they lost to Wichita State in the first round 76-70.
North Texas will face the winner between No. 3 seed Arkansas State and Saint Louis in the second round Saturday.
