UNC basketball final Bracketology roundup for NCAA Tournament

[ad_1]

Selection Sunday is finally here and the past 30 or so hours have likely been stressful for the North Carolina Tar Heels’ basketball program. After losing to Duke on Friday night in heartbreaking fashion, the Tar Heels’ NCAA Tournament chances are doubtful.

And now it’s in the hands of the selection committee.

UNC did everything it could to improve its resume, but now, it has to roll with what it has and hope that it was enough. As we sit here on Selection Sunday, let’s take a look at where UNC stands in mock brackets.

Joe Lunardi (ESPN)

After losing to Duke, Lunardi moved UNC to the “first four out” line which is where they stand right now on Selection Sunday. He does not believe UNC will get in for his final mock.

Jerry Palm (CBS Sports)

While others had UNC in the field after ACC Tournament wins over Notre Dame and Wake Forest, CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm still had them on the outside looking in. Right now, Palm has UNC as a ‘first four out’ team behind Xavier and Texas.

USA TODAY Sports

Following a similar path as the previous two brackets, the USA TODAY Sports trio of Paul Myerberg, Erick Smith and Eddie Timanus have the Tar Heels in their ‘first four out’ section. They are behind Boise State and Xavier while Vanderbilt, Indiana, San Diego State, and Texas are all in.

On3

Unlike the previous three, the latest mock bracket from On3 has the Tar Heels IN the field, which is a little surprising. They are one of the ‘last four in’ teams for the field along with West Virginia, San Diego State and Texas.

YAGO Brackets

With an update on Saturday night, YAGO Brackets has UNC as the first team in the ‘first four out’ section of their mock bracket. Why is this important? YAGO Brackets is one of the top and most accurate predictors.
