How far will St. John’s, UConn go?

The men’s Big East Tournament is coming to a close with the semifinals taking center stage Friday night at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Similar to the Big Ten Tournament, there’s been no major upsets so far, outside of No. 10 DePaul, whose run comes to an end after an 85-81 double overtime loss despite a 15-point lead at halftime against No. 2 Creighton on Thursday night.

Three of the top four seeds are in the semis, with the lone exception being No. 4 Xavier, who lost a 89-87 heartbreaker to No. 5 Marquette.

St. John’s, led by legendary head coach Rick Pitino, are the top-seed in the Big East Tournament. The school’s magical season continued Thursday night, cruising to a 21-point victory in a 78-57 win over Butler and are now 28-4 on the year.

The Red Storm now take on Marquette, who they’ve beaten he Golden Eagles in both meetings this season by a combined eight points.

In the other semifinal matchup will be UConn versus Creighton, with the two universities splitting their two matchups in the regular season.
