March Madness: Florida Gators basketball bracketology seeding ahead of SEC Tournament

The Southeastern Conference opens up its annual men’s basketball tournament on Wednesday, and ahead of the opening salvo from the league’s edition of March Madness, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi and CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm released their latest bracketologies.

The two have published their NCAA Tournament outlooks all season and with Selection Sunday just around the corner, the finishing touches are being put on what they expect to be the 68-school field that fills the brackets this month.

The Florida Gators have been near or at the top of the major bracketologies for several weeks now and currently hold a No. 1 seed in the West Region entering the conference gauntlet. Here is how the two college basketball experts felt in their latest updates.

ESPN bracketology

Lunardi still has Florida as the No. 1 seed in the West facing the No. 16 Norfolk State Vikings in the first round held in Raleigh, North Carolina, for the third-straight update.

Not much else has changed, as the SEC maintained its 13 representatives, with the Auburn Tigers as a No. 1 seed in the South along with Florida in the West. The Alabama Crimson Tide and Tennessee Volunteers both held onto their No. 2 seeds in the Midwest and East regions, respectively.

CBS Sports bracketology

Palm also stood pat with Florida in the West, but has them facing the No. 16 Bryant Bulldogs in Raleigh instead of the Omaha Mavericks.

He also included a baker’s dozen worth of conference schools just as he had in the previous two updates, featuring the same top four as last time. Auburn (South) and Florida (West) represent the No. 1 seeds while Alabama (Midwest) and Tennessee (East) are placed among the No. 2 seeds, just like ESPN’s bracket.
