Michigan State basketball moves up in latest AP poll following regular season finale

[ad_1]

Michigan State basketball ended their electric 2024-25 regular season with a seven-game winning streak, with five of those wins coming over ranked opponents, punctuated with a double-digit win over No. 17 Michigan on Sunday. For their efforts, the Spartans moved up in the latest AP poll, but maybe not as high as some fans were expecting or hoping.

Michigan State moved up just one spot in this week’s poll to No. 7. They probably would have gone up higher if Alabama didn’t shock Auburn over the weekend, which kept the Rolling Tide, who have two more losses this year than MSU, ahead of the Spartans.

I will say, as a long-time college basketball observer, it’s a little strange to see three SEC teams all in the Top-5, along with some perceived disrespect to the Big Ten, keeping their dominant champion out of the Top-10, but I think the Big Ten’s lack of NCAA Tournament success over the years has hurt their teams in some voters’ eyes.
