How outgoing Georgia basketball transfers performed this season

The Georgia Bulldogs lost seven players to the NCAA transfer portal following the 2023-2024 college basketball season. Each player transferred for various different reasons, but for the most part they were looking for more playing time or a larger role on a team.

Overall, of the seven Georgia basketball transfers, two of them have significantly larger roles (Matthew Alexander-Moncrieffe and Mari Jordan). Both of these players went to smaller schools in less competitive conferences than the SEC and are getting more playing time.

Two former Georgia players have decreased roles (both at major basketball schools) for their respective teams. The other three transfers have vastly similar roles to what they did at Georgia.

Head coach Mike White and Georgia probably don’t have too much regret with this last transfer portal window since Georgia basketball is projected to make the NCAA Tournament. Interestingly, Georgia is projected to play against former UGA center Frank Anselem-Ibe and Louisville in March Madness.

Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe, Seattle University

Moncrieffe has emerged as Seattle’s leading scorer and rebounder. Seattle (13-17) is unlikely to make the NCAA Tournament, but Moncrieffe is having a great season. ESPN tabbed him as a mid-major breakout. Moncrieffe put up modest numbers during his time at UGA.

Stats: 15.1 points, 9.6 rebounds per game

RJ Melendez, Mississippi State
