Rhode Island basketball beats Fordham in season finale. What to know about the A-10 tourney

The Rhode Island men’s basketball team ended regular-season play on a high note Saturday, beating Fordham 86-67 on Senior Day. The two teams will meet again in just a few days at the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Tournament in Washington, D.C.

URI got off to a fast start, taking an early 8-point lead and would never trail. Sebastian Thomas led Rhode Island with 20 points, to go along with seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Jaden House added 19 points and David Green finished with eight points and seven rebounds to reach a career milestone. His seventh point was his 1,000th career point. Guards Jamarques Lawrence and Cam Estevez each had 12 points in the win.

Sebastian Thomas led URI in scoring Saturday against Fordham. The two teams will meet again Wednesday in the A-10 tournament.

Jackie Johnson III led Fordham with 19 points and Japhet Medor added 15 in the loss.

Rhode Island seniors Javonte Brown, Quentin Diboundje, Green, House and Thomas were all honored prior to tip-off as part of Senior Day. Also honored was photographer/videographer Josh Paiva, who has worked with the team for the last three years.

With the win, URI ends regular-season play at 18-12 overall, 7-11 in conference play. Rhode Island has not enjoyed a winning season in Atlantic 10 play since the 2019-20 campaign.

Atlantic 10 Tournament seedings, schedules, TV times

Rhode Island takes the floor again on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., and will once again face Fordham in the opening round of the 2025 Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Tournament. URI is seeded No. 10 in the tourney. Here are the seedings and schedule:

Game 2: No. 10 Rhode Island vs. No. 15 Fordham, 2 p.m.
