EAST LANSING — Michigan State basketball roared from the opening tipoff and Michigan never really had a chance.
The No. 7 Spartans blitzed the rival No. 15 Wolverines in a roaring first half on senior day, then held off a rally in the middle of the second half to complete an impressive 79-62 victory, their seventh straight to end the regular season. MSU swept the season series against Michigan.
Tre Holloman scored 20 off the bench and Jase Richardson added 18 points for MSU, which led 50-28 at halftime. Vlad Goldin led all scorers with 29 points for Michigan and Danny Wolf had 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Michigan State clinched the Big Ten regular season title outright in Thursday’s comeback win at Iowa, and will be the No. 1 seed in the 15-team Big Ten Conference tournament this week. Michigan will be the 3-seed. Both teams earned a double-bye into Friday’s quarterfinals in Indianapolis.
March Madness begins the following week after next Sunday’s selection show.
