Tar Heels on outside looking in with latest Bracketology

[ad_1]

The North Carolina Tar Heels enter Tuesday night’s game at Virginia Tech needing another win to stay on the bubble for the 2025 NCAA Tournament. With a bad resume including just one Quad 1 win, the Tar Heels are in a tough spot.

UNC has two games remaining this season as they will host Duke on Saturday night in what feels like a must-win game for the Tar Heels. But before they can look ahead, they need to take care of business on the road Tuesday night in Blacksburg.

On Tuesday, the USA TODAY Sports updated its latest mock bracket for the NCAA Tournament and has the Tar Heels on the outside looking in. Eddie Timanus, Erick Smith, and Paul Myerberg revealed their projections with UNC as one of the first four teams out.

They are joined by Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas on that line while Boise State, Ohio State, Xavier, and Indiana make up the last four in.

This really isn’t a surprise as UNC has flirted with being one of the last four in for weeks. However, they haven’t been able to get into the field in projections even with a five-game win streak. That’s due to the 1-10 Quad 1 record that they have this season.

It’s simple for UNC. They either need to win out in the regular season or go on a deep run in the upcoming ACC Tournament to have a shot.
