USA TODAY Sports released their recent forecast of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament field of 68, and they have the Nebraska Cornhuskers as one of the last four teams dancing in March.
The Huskers are placed in a play-in game as a No. 11 seed in the West region and will play the other No. 11 seed in the West region, the San Diego State Aztecs. The projections show that should Nebraska advance, they would play the winner of the projected No. 14 vs. No. 3 game between the James Madison Dukes and the Iowa State Cyclones.
The Cornhuskers are one of ten Big Ten teams to earn an NCAA projection. The conference finished second in overall bids, with the SEC earning the most, with 13 teams selected.
If Nebraska earns an NCAA Tournament bid, it will be the ninth in school history and the second under head coach Fred Hoiberg. The Huskers are the only power conference school that has never won a tournament game, with a 0-8 all-time record.
The Cornhuskers are 17-11 overall and 7-10 in the Big Ten Conference. They will next play on Saturday, March 1, when they face the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. CT on the Big Ten Network.
Selection Sunday is coming fast and the weekend lineup for men’s college basketball has key matchups in the SEC, Big 12 worth watching. https://t.co/aUg1STSdvC
