Did ‘College GameDay’ pick Alabama basketball to beat Tennessee?

[ad_1]

Alabama basketball’s recent history against Tennessee has been one to forget.

The Crimson Tide have lost each of its last three games against the Volunteers. Of those three losses, two were by 10 points or fewer.

On Saturday, ahead of No. 6 Alabama’s road trip to Knoxville to face No. 5 Tennessee, ESPN’s “College GameDay” crew thinks that Crimson Tide losing streak will continue.

Former Tennessee women’s basketball player Andraya Carter, former Duke men’s basketball player Jay Williams and former Virginia Tech, South Florida and Long Beach State men’s basketball coach Seth Greenberg each picked the Volunteers to beat the Crimson Tide.

“I always talk about (how) we disrespect Tennessee,” Williams said. “I think their defense travels and I think their physicality and how they can run Alabama off the 3-point line… I think Tennessee shows up at home.”

Once the analysts figured each of them were picking Tennessee over Alabama, they groaned.

“Take a screenshot right now,” Williams said.

Alabama’s last win against Tennessee was a 73-68 win Dec. 29, 2021 in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide’s last win in Knoxville against the Volunteers was a 71-63 win Jan. 2, 2020.

Nate Oats has three wins in seven tries against Tennessee as Alabama’s basketball coach.

Alabama will take on Tennessee at 3 p.m. CT at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center in Knoxville. The game will be shown on ESPN.
