AUBURN — In many ways, Auburn basketball’s 2024-25 campaign has already been storybook.
The Tigers walked away from arguably their toughest nonconference schedule ever with a single loss, and in one of the best seasons the SEC has ever put together on the hardwood, they’ve maintained a similar output, suffering just a single defeat in league play.
Now, with three games to go, Auburn is zeroing in on its third SEC regular season championship since 2018. And the season would only become more fabled with a victory in their upcoming contest, at No. 17 Kentucky (Noon CT, ABC) on Saturday.
Rupp Arena is a place where Auburn hasn’t won since 1988, and an environment in which it only has two victories in the span of the program’s history. But a win this weekend would not only buck the series’ historic trends, it’d also secure a share of the SEC regular season title for the Tigers.
As coach Bruce Pearl readies Auburn for what’s sure to be a standout matchup, here’s everything to know about the contest.

In theory, the result between the Tigers and Wildcats could not matter to the SEC title race. An Auburn victory would clinch at least a share of the SEC regular season title. But if No. 6 Alabama loses at No. 5 Tennessee that afternoon, it’d do the same.
An Alabama loss would certainly be a poetic way to secure another banner. But there’s no denying that a win at Rupp Arena would be historic for Auburn, especially so for the Pearl era. Auburn’s last win in Lexington came in 1988 when the Tigers beat then-No. 1 Kentucky 53-52. It was also just the second win for Auburn at Kentucky in the program’s history.
