The best social media reactions to Michigan State’s buzzer beating win over Maryland

Michigan State basketball went into College Park as underdogs to a red hot Maryland squad despite being ranked higher than the Terrapins in the polls. That wasn’t disrespect to the Spartans, instead, it was an acknowledgement of the season Maryland has been having. Maryland has one of the best starting five units in the country, with at least one NBA lottery pick (Derik Queen) and three sharpshooters on the wing.

Maryland hasn’t lost a game at home since November against Marquette. Well, that was, until Wednesday night, when Tre Holloman launched a half-court heave in the closing seconds that miraculously went in and won the Spartans yet another important and difficult Big Ten road game.

Nothing about this win was easy, as the Spartans were held under 60 points for the first time this season. However, they obviously also did the same to Maryland, shutting down the Terrapins with a level of elite defense we’ve grown accustomed to seeing out of them.
