Auburn basketball schedules home-and-home with Big 12 power Arizona

Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl wanted to build the nation’s toughest schedule ahead of the 2024-25 season. So far, it has paid off as the Tigers have won over 25 games before the SEC tournament, with 15 coming over “quad-1” opponents.

Pearl wants to challenge his squad again next season by scheduling a home-and-home with a West Coast power.

Auburn athletics announced Thursday that it has scheduled a home-and-home series with Arizona. The series will begin on Dec. 6, 2025, at McKale Center in Tucson, Arizona, with the return trip set to return to Auburn during the 2026 season at a date to be later announced.

Auburn owns a 2-0 record over Arizona, with its most recent win over the Wildcats coming in the 2018 Maui Invitational. Bryce Brown scored 19 points while Chuma Okeke scored 10 points with six rebounds in the Tigers’ 73-57 win over the Wildcats. Auburn also took down Arizona in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 1986. This season’s matchup will be the first of the “home and home” variety.

Auburn currently leads the SEC, needing just one win and an Alabama loss to clinch the conference’s regular season title. Arizona currently trails Houston for the top spot in the Big 12, three games behind Houston. Both teams currently rank in the top 10 of the NCAA Net rankings entering Thursday’s action. Arizona sits at No. 9 with seven wins over quad-1 competition while Auburn holds on to No. 1 with 15 wins over quad-1 teams.

Outside of its matchup with Arizona, Auburn will also play a neutral site game against Purdue at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, scheduled for Dec. 20.
