Wisconsin basketball returned to the win column on Tuesday night with a decisive 88-62 triumph over the Washington Huskies.
The story of the game was the stellar play of sophomore guard John Blackwell, who scored 19 of his 24 points in the first half and grabbed 10 total rebounds, recording his first career double-double. Blackwell wasn’t alone in his efficient offensive showing — Wisconsin as a team shot 51.6% from the field thanks to dominance (42 points) in the painted area.
Center Steven Crowl led that efficiency inside, scoring 12 points on 5-of-7 from inside the arc. John Tonje followed that line with 13 points on 3-of-4 from inside the three-point line, while Kamari McGee scored all of his eight points in the painted area.
Wisconsin out-rebounded Washington 41-26, recorded 15 assists to Washington’s 10 and forced its opponent into double-digit turnovers. Tuesday’s game was close to a perfect bounce-back performance after the Badgers’ recent loss to Oregon.
For those who may have missed the action, here are full highlights from Wisconsin’s 26-point win.
Wisconsin is now 22-6 on the season and 12-5 in conference play. While the team may be running out of time to capture a Big Ten title, it remains in a strong position with postseason play right around the corner. It can further establish its place as a No. 2 seed in NCAA Tournament projections with a road win over top-ranked Michigan State on Sunday.
