Updated Big Ten basketball standings after Wisconsin’s bounce-back win over Washington

It might be too little, too late for the Wisconsin Badgers in their quest for the Big Ten regular-season title.

Greg Gard’s team dominated Washington on Tuesday night, winning 88-62 after leading by as many as 32 points in the second half. The result pushed the team to 22-6 on the season and 12-5 in Big Ten play, inching it 1/2 game closer to the top spot in the conference.

The result is sure to bring up some ‘what-ifs’ regarding Wisconsin’s recent loss to Oregon — the Badgers fell 77-73 in overtime on Saturday after allowing the Ducks to orchestrate a 16-2 closing run to tie the game and force the extra period. Simple late-game execution would have guaranteed Wisconsin a victory over a strong Oregon team. If that had occurred, Wisconsin may currently sit in the driver’s seat to win the conference.

Instead, Wisconsin needs three wins in its final three games, including on the road at first-place Michigan State on Sunday. It will also need some significant help, with Michigan and Maryland both right in the middle of the race.

As Wisconsin fans turn their attention to Michigan State’s tough road trip to Maryland on Wednesday night, here is an updated snapshot of the current Big Ten standings:
