The 2024-25 college basketball season has been a strange one, especially in Eugene.
Dana Altman’s Oregon men’s basketball team has seen its share of ups and downs, but with a recent four-game win streak that included road wins over Iowa and No. 11 Wisconsin, things are looking bright for the Ducks as March approaches.
Oregon’s uptick is reflected in the latest ESPN Bracketology where the Ducks are slated as a 5-seed in the South Regional. In this projection, Oregon would face 12-seed Drake in Denver and should the Ducks win that, their most likely opponent would be an all too familiar face in the Arizona Wildcats.
The newest member of the Big XII, Arizona, is currently 18-9 overall and is listed as a 4-seed where they would open up against 13-seed Akron.
All of this would have been unthinkable just a few weeks ago when the Ducks were on a five-game losing streak and not playing their best basketball. But a few things have changed on the floor with Oregon playing as a team on both ends of the floor.
That was evident in their latest game with Wisconsin, as the Ducks erased a 17-point second-half deficit and won in overtime. With two solid games, center Nate Bittle was named Big Ten Player of the Week.
