MSU-UM game sets all-time impressive viewership numbers

Michigan State basketball’s win over Michigan last week was the most viewed college basketball game of the season thus far.

FOX Sports released the viewership numbers for the game between the Spartans and Wolverines last week, and it was an all-timer for the TV station. Nearly 1.8 million tuned in for the rivalry game, which was the highest viewership for any college basketball game this season. It was also the eighth most-watched men’s regular season college hoops game ever on FOX.

Michigan State overcame a halftime deficit to dominate the Wolverines in the second half en route to the 75-62 win. Both teams were ranked in the top 15 entering the matchup, and the winner of the game grabbed first place of the Big Ten with two weeks to go in the regular season.

Michigan State and Michigan will tangle again on the hardwood one more time during the regular season. The Wolverines head to the Breslin Center on the final day of the regular season on March 9. That matchup will be televised nationally on CBS.

Next up for the Spartans is a road game at No. 16 Maryland on Wednesday to continue a brutally tough finish to the season. Tip off between the Terps and Spartans is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network.
