Michigan basketball survives Nebraska 49-46 to tie Big Ten lead again

LINCOLN, Neb. — Michigan basketball survived Nebraska 49-46 on Monday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena to tie Michigan State for the Big Ten lead once again.

Roddy Gayle Jr. missed the front-end of a 1-and-1 free throw with Michigan leading 47-46 and 11.8 seconds to go, but the Cornhuskers’ Connor Essegian missed an open trail 3-point look with 5 seconds left.

Tre Donaldson made both free throws, and Nebraska’s tying 3-point attempt came up short.

The Wolverines (21-6, 13-3 Big Ten) host Rutgers on Thursday night.
