MADISON − Each Monday, the Journal Sentinel will look at the Wisconsin men’s basketball team’s previous week and assess how its résumé has changed and stacks up to the competition.

All rankings are through Sunday unless noted otherwise.

The Badgers are 21-6 overall and 11-5 in the Big Ten following a loss to Oregon on Saturday.

Wisconsin basketball scores from last week

Feb. 18 vs. Illinois: With the 95-74 victory, the Badgers scored at least 90 points in back-to-back games for the first time since December 1995. Also, graduate guard John Tonje joined elite company with his 31-point performance for his second straight 30-point game. The only other Badgers to score 30 in back-to-back games are Michael Finley, Rick Olson and Clarence Sherrod. Wisconsin led by as many as 21 points and shot 52%.

Feb. 22 vs. Oregon: The Badgers led by 17 points in the first half and owned a 15-point advantage with about 8 minutes to play. Then they unraveled under the weight of a rash of turnovers and lost 77-73 in overtime. UW finished with a season-high 17 turnovers. During the final 3 minutes, 16 seconds, they were outscored 9-0 and turned it over five times. The last of those turnovers led to a beyond NBA-range three-pointer by sophomore guard Jackson Shelstad that forced overtime.
