After a month of euphoria, Michigan basketball was sent back to earth this past week.
The Wolverines have been at the top or next to the top of the Big Ten standings for the entirety of the season and while U-M still controls its own destiny as far as claiming at least a share of the league title, it certainly lost some of the breathing room.
Dusty May’s team, who only played once the past seven days and for the first time in four weeks, was on the wrong side of things. Now is when the rubber will meet the road, with U-M scheduled to play five games over the upcoming 13 days. Not only is this the final week in February, but there are only two weeks remaining in the regular season and less than three weeks between now and Selection Sunday when the NCAA tournament field is announced.
