Former UW-Milwaukee standout guard B.J. Freeman did not travel with Arizona State to Sunday’s game at Kansas State and reportedly has been dismissed from the Sun Devils’ men’s basketball program after a somewhat turbulent season.
Senior guard BJ Freeman has been dismissed from ASU’s team. He’d earlier been suspended for one game for conduct detrimental to the team. Another in a series of things going bad for the Sun Devils.

Freeman was averaging 13.7 points per game and had scored in double figures in 20 games for Arizona State, but has been ejected from two games this season for flagrant fouls and was suspended by coach Bobby Hurley after a game with Oklahoma State for conduct detrimental to the team. An Arizona State representitive said Freeman was no longer with the team Sunday.
One the ejections was prompted due to a Freeman head-butt of Arizona star Caleb Love. Hurley eventually pulled his players off the floor prior to the end of the game.
Freeman played two seasons at UW-Milwaukee before entering the transfer portal. He averaged 21.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists last season, He also originally declared for the NBA Draft.
Freeman started 22 of 23 games at Arizona State. His spot in Sunday’s lineup was taken by junior center Shawn Phillips.
