For the first time since Jan. 25, Texas A&M basketball enters a matchup fresh off a loss. The Aggies had won five in a row before a trip to Starkville, Miss., ended with a disappointing 16-point defeat to Mississippi State.

Prior to the loss, the NCAA selection committee picked the Aggies to be a two-seed and the No. 6 team overall in its first ranking of the country’s top-16 teams. The Aggies have put together impressive wins despite shaky offensive performances and now embarks on another tough week of SEC play.

No. 7 Texas A&M (20-6, 9-4) hosts No. 6 Tennessee (21-5, 8-5) at 11 a.m. Saturday in a nationally televised clash between teams tied for third and fourth in the SEC.

The Volunteers are 4-2 in the last six games, including a 78-73 loss to Kentucky on Jan. 28.

It’s the second matchup of top-10 teams this season at Reed Arena; the Aggies lost to Alabama earlier this year. A&M coach Buzz Williams is 3-4 against Tennessee as the head coach of the Aggies.
