Friday marks one of the biggest days for Big Ten college basketball in the 2024-25 season, let alone for the state of Michigan. That’s because, for the first time this season, Michigan and MSU will resume their rivalry, playing each other on Friday evening at Crisler Center.

At the moment, coaches across college basketball rank the Wolverines slightly ahead of the Spartans, at No. 12 compared to No. 13. The maize and blue are a half-game ahead of the green and white in the Big Ten standings.

This is the first of two matchups between the bitter rivals, and head coach Dusty May’s first go-round in the rivalry, just one game after having taken down the other rival, Ohio State, by three points over the weekend.
