Potomac State upsets No. 12 Montgomery; Raptors beat ACM; FSU routs Wheeling

KEYSER, W.Va. — WVU Potomac State stunned the 12th ranked team in NJCAA Division II, defeating Montgomery 102-82 on Sunday.

The Catamounts (16-10, 12-5 NJCAA Region 20) had six players score in double figures.

Camren Wilkes led all scorers with 25 points, adding seven assists and three steals, also shooting 10 of 11 at the free throw line.

Damian Thompson scored 21 points with five 3-pointers, adding seven boards and a steal.

Andre Grant (18), Eugene Bryant (16), Daniel Charlot (10) and Yanis Youbi (10) also finished in double figures.

Bryant added 11 rebounds, two steals and a block while Youbi added nine boards and two blocks off the bench.

Isaiah Gill led the Raptors (22-5, 13-1 Region 20) with 20 points while Franklin Ayissi-Etoh (14) and Christopher Levy (11) also scored in double figures.

Potomac State will look to extend its winning streak to seven games on Wednesday at Cecil at 6 p.m.

Montgomery 70, Allegany College 69

ROCKVILLE — Area teams have played the No. 12 Raptors as close as anyone this season.

A day before Potomac State upset Montgomery, Allegany College fell by one point.

Garrett College lost 103-100 on Jan. 22 which the Lakers led by as many as 17 points.

On Saturday, the Trojans (11-14, 9-8 Region 20) led 33-29 at halftime and led 45-31 with just under 16 minutes left when Daniel Nwaete hit a 3-pointer.

The Raptors rallied back with a 34-22 run over the next 15 minutes and took a 66-65 lead on a Christopher Levy layup with 1:01 to play.

Nwaete scored a layup with 1:15 left to retake the lead, but with six seconds remaining, Levy hit the go-ahead 3-pointer.

Alex Byrd led Allegany with 21 points and 12 rebounds while Jaylen Brown scored 18 points with eight rebounds, eight assists, three steals and a block.

Nwaete finished with 13 points, seven boards, two blocks and a steal.

Levy scored a game-high 22 points, adding six boards, five assists and two steals for Montgomery.

Franklin Ayissi-Etoh (15) and Mateusz Szpin (10) also scored in double figures.
