Maliq Brown injury update: Duke basketball player exits first half at Virginia

[ad_1]

Duke basketball’s Maliq Brown sustained what appeared to be a shoulder injury in the first half of the third-ranked Blue Devils’ game at Virginia on Monday.

Brown played 10 minutes in the first half before deflecting a pass with his left arm at the 1:21 mark. He immediately grabbed his left arm and exited the game, walking off the court and into the tunnel with Duke athletic trainer Jose Fonseca.

Throughout the season, Brown has been among Duke’s best defenders. He entered Monday’s game with a team-high 119 deflections and is second on the team with 30 steals. His versatility as a 6-foot-9 center allows Duke to switch everything on the defensive end. He’s also an underrated passer, with multiple assists in eight games.

Brown missed Duke’s win against Incarnate Word on Dec. 10 with a toe injury and missed four more games in January because of a knee sprain.
