On Tuesday, Colorado men’s basketball (10-15, 1-13 Big 12) will battle the No. 8 Iowa State Cyclones (20-5, 10-4 Big 12) for the third time this season. After beating UCF on Saturday, the Buffs will look to build on their long-awaited first conference win when they visit Ames.
ISU has won both matchups this season, beating the Buffs in the Maui Invitational and in Boulder. CU tested the Cyclones at home on Dec. 30 in its Big 12 opener, but the 79-69 defeat started a 13-game losing streak that has been the story of the Buffaloes’ season.
Between both games against Colorado, senior guard Curtis Jones leads Iowa State, averaging 19.5 points. Point guard Julian Hammond III has been lights out against the Cyclones, averaging 20.5 points while shooting 54% from the field and 42% from deep. Senior forward Andrej Jakimovski also scored 18 when the Buffs faced ISU in Maui, but he missed the second matchup in December due to illness.
Tipoff from Hilton Coliseum in Ames is set for 6 p.m. MT (ESPN+).
