UNC basketball climbs in NET rankings following a big road win at Syracuse

[ad_1]

Hubert Davis and North Carolina have their backs up against the wall. Just to be in the conversation of the NCAA Tournament, they need to rise in the NET rankings, and to do that, they have to win games that they should win. Last week against Pitt was a huge game, but because of their recent losing streak, they dropped to a Quad 2 win.

Despite that, every win counts, and they need every win they can get. On Saturday, the Tar Heels took down Syracuse 88-82, snapping a road-loss streak that the team was on. They have now picked up another Quad 2 win, making them undefeated at 5-0 in Quad 2 games. However, the biggest thing working against North Carolina is their 1-10 record against Quad 1 teams.

As a result of the win, they have risen from No. 50 in the NET rankings going into Saturday’s game to No. 47 on the day after the win.

They are also 5-1 in Quad 3 games, with their only loss to Stanford at home. They are 4-0 in Quad 4 games.

North Carolina is the second highest-ranked team with double-digit Quad 1 losses to Georgia, who is 2-10. They are also the No. 7 ranked team with double-digit losses total on the season. Ohio State, who is 15-10 overall this season and No. 27 on the NET rankings, is the highest team with 10+ losses.

North Carolina will have another chance to rise in the rankings with a game at home against NC State on Wednesday, February 19th, at 7:00 p.m., airing on ESPN.
