Tom Izzo became the all-time leader in Big Ten wins on Saturday night, and that accomplishment received praise from college basketball icons across the country.
The Spartans rallied from a first half 16-point deficit to knock off Illinois and potentially put their Big Ten championship mission back on track. Michigan State held Illinois scoreless for the final eight minutes to win by the final score of 79-65.
The win over Illinois pushed Izzo past Indiana Hoosiers legend Bob Knight as the all-time leader in Big Ten wins with 354 in his career. Izzo has been downplaying the record and has been focused on his current team, but the record is certainly worth celebrating.
As part of hitting this milestone, Michigan State basketball’s social media team put together a video of numerous college basketball icons congratulating Izzo and talking about the achievement. Some of those included in the video were Roy Williams, Jay Wright, John Calipari, Jim Nantz and Mike Krzyzewski.
