It may be a frustrating season for the Arizona State men’s basketball team but the Sun Devils have not quit. They were shorthanded on the road against the No. 12 team in the country in Texas Tech and took the Red Raiders to double overtime before falling 111-106 in what was one of their best showings of the season.

The Sun Devils will try to snap a four-game losing streak when they return home for a 6 p.m. showdown against TCU Saturday at Desert Financial Arena. The Sun Devils will also be looking to snap a five-game home losing streak.

TCU (13-11, 6-7) at Arizona State (12-12, 3-10)

Time/Site: Saturday, 6 p.m., Desert Financial Arena

TV: ESPN+ Radio: Arizona Sports 98.7 FM (KMVP)

About the matchup: This was to mark the return of Frankie Collins to ASU. The dynamic point guard played for the Sun Devils for two years but transferred to TCU to use up his final season of eligibility, only to sustain a season-ending foot injury in a loss to Vanderbilt in the ninth game of the season. This will be the first and only regular-season meeting between the teams. ASU averages 74.5 points per game, which puts the Sun Devils 170th out of 351 Division I schools. TCU is only at 68 points per game which has it at 315th.

About the Horned Frogs: TCU is coming off a 73-72 win over Oklahoma State, the difference being a 3-pointer at the buzzer by sophomore guard Vasean Allette. It has won three of its last four contests. The team had to retool after a 21-13 showing last year as it lost its top seven scorers, 95% of its scoring total. Collins was the headliner brought in with the rest of the transfer group including Allette (Old Dominion), 6-11 center Ernest Udeh (Kansas), guard Noah Reynolds (Green Bay), forward Trazarien White (UNC-Wilmington) and guard R.J. Jones (Kansas State). Reynolds (12.5 ppg) is the team’s leading scorer. TCU’s problem spot has been 3-point shooting as it is hitting just 30.8%, 320th in Division I.

About the Sun Devils: ASU is going to be shorthanded with freshman Jayden…
