DURHAM — Cooper Flagg has seen the dunks of former NBA star Dominique Wilkins, who is affectionately known as the “Human Highlight Film.”
During the 1985 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, Wilkins beat Michael Jordan by throwing down several reverse dunks. Flagg had a reverse dunk of his own in Duke basketball’s 78-57 rout of Cal on Wednesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Midway through the second half, Flagg jumped into a passing lane for a steal, glided down Coach K Court and skied toward the rim before turning his back and finishing a double-clutch reverse dunk.
When asked if he’s watched Wilkins throw down similar dunks, Flagg laughed and said, “Yeah, something like that. I mean, I’ve had that dunk for a while. Didn’t want to get too crazy, but wanted to do a little something.”

But Flagg’s a tough judge. When asked to score his dunk on a scale of 1-10, Flagg had the finish in the middle of the pack.
“On the scale of all my dunks,” he said, “I would give that like a 5, 5 or a 6.”
Before media members left the Duke locker room, another reporter chimed in to ask Flagg what it would take to give himself a 10 on a dunk.
“I’d say a 10 (is) behind the back, through the legs, something like that. I don’t know if we’ll get that one in a game,” Flagg said with a smile.
The projected No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft finished with 27 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals to help the third-ranked Blue Devils (21-3, 13-1 ACC) bounce back from their first loss in two and a half months.
Flagg and Duke return to Coach K Court to play Stanford (16-9, 8-6) on Saturday (4 p.m., ABC)
