Kansas State basketball saved its best for last in each half, and as a result, the Wildcats’ winning streak is alive and well.
The Wildcats used an eight-point run late in the second half to take the lead and then held on over the last 1 1/2 minutes Tuesday night to knock off No. 13-ranked Arizona, 73-70, at Bramlage Coliseum. It was K-State’s sixth straight victory.
K-State now is 13-11 and above .500 in the Big 12 for the first time since the conference opener at 7-6. Arizona (17-7, 11-2) saw its six-game winning streak come to an end and dropped out of a first-place tie with Houston for the league lead.
Dug McDaniel scored 24 points, David N’Guessan 16 and C.J. Jones 10 to lead K-State, which shot 45.2% but made only 1 of 19 3-pointers. Arizona was just 2 of 22 on 3-pointers and turned the ball over 17 times.
K-State outscored Arizona off turnovers, 23-10.
