BLOOMINGTON — Indiana basketball and Marquette are finalizing details to confirm a nonconference game at the United Center in Chicago next season, per College Hoops Today. It joins Kentucky among high-profile nonconference games in what will now be Mike Woodson’s successor’s first season in Bloomington.

The two programs have met 10 times, most recently in a 96-73 IU win in the defunct Gavitt Games, in November 2018 in Bloomington. Before that, the last meeting between the Hoosiers and Golden Eagles came in November 2001, when Marquette defeated Indiana 50-49 in the Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage.

Some of the most high-profile games between the two teams have come in the postseason. Most prominent among them: IU defeated Marquette 65-56 in the NCAA tournament regional final on March 20, 1976, in Baton Rouge, La.

Indiana would go on that spring to win Bob Knight’s first national championship, completing what remains the last undefeated season in Division I men’s basketball history. Marquette, under legendary former coach Al McGuire, won the same tournament the following season.

The Hoosiers are scheduled to play the first in a four-game series with Kentucky on Dec. 20, 2025, at Rupp Arena in Lexington.
