Bingley (Women’s Basketball) and DJ Armstrong (Men’s Basketball) as the January Student-Athletes of the Month.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship by Edgardo Madrid & Associates, UTPB Athletics will be recognizing one male and one female student-athlete each month as Student-Athletes of the Month. At the end of the 2024-25 athletics season, one male and one female student-athlete will be selected as UTPB’s Student-Athletes of the Year.

Bingley averaged 11.7 points per game while shooting 50.7 percent (36-71) from the field, 45.2 percent (19-42) from three and 82.4 percent (14-17) from the free throw line during nine games in January. She scored in double figures six times during the month, twice scored 19 points in a game, made at least three 3-pointers in three straight games (Jan. 18-25), and dished out 13 assists throughout the month. Bingley found her offensive flow and sank 6-of-11 3-pointers to led all scorers with 19 points in a 62-57 defeat at home against Midwestern State University (Jan. 18). Her six made 3-pointers are tied for the fourth most in the Lone Star Conference so far this season. One week later, she then led the Falcons with 19 points on three 3-pointers in UTPB’s 20-point win, 75-54, at St. Mary’s University (Jan. 25), giving her 12 made 3-pointers over a three-game stretch.

Armstrong averaged 14.8 points per game while shooting 46.6 percent (48-103) from the field, 37.8 percent (28-74) from three and 90 percent (9-10) from the free throw line during his nine games in January. In addition to leading the Falcons to a 6-3 record during the month, Armstrong scored in double figures six times, including a high of 25 points and three straight games of at least 23 points (Jan. 18-25).
