Clemson basketball has a common seed line in experts’ latest bracketology projections

After big wins over Duke and North Carolina basketball to complete a 4-0 sweep of Tobacco Road rivals this season, the Clemson Tigers are riding high as they get into the stretch of the regular season.

Clemson (20-5 overall, 12-2 ACC), No. 19 in this week’s USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, pulled off a 77-71 upset of the Blue Devils on Saturday, then followed it up with a 85-65 beatdown of North Carolina some 48 hours later to tie the program’s largest margin of victory against a UNC basketball team.

Clemson has risen to No. 27 in the NET rankings, up four spots from last week. The Tigers rose one spot in the KenPom ratings to No. 26 and are now 9-4 in games against Quad 1 and Quad 2 teams.

As for the team’s latest NCAA Tournament projections? There’s still a lot of basketball between now and Selection Sunday on March 16, but the Tigers remain in a pretty familiar spot along the seed line.

USA TODAY Sports’ Eddie Timanus, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm, and veteran college basketball analyst Andy Katz all have Clemson as a projected No. 7 seed in The Dance.

That’s after the Tigers pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the year in college basketball by taking down a Duke team that was 12-0 in ACC play, had an average margin of victory of over 20 points in those games, and was riding the nation’s longest winning stream at 16 games.

In the projected No. 7 vs. No. 10 seed game, USA TODAY Sports has Clemson facing the Oklahoma Sooners in the Midwest Region, where Nate Oats’ No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide is the top seed. Lunardi projects the same Tigers vs. Sooners matchup, except in the West where the Tennessee Volunteers are the top seed in that region.

Palm has Clemson facing the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Midwest (Alabama is also the No. 1 seed of that region), while Katz has the Tigers facing one of the nation’s hottest teams in Rick Pitino’s St. John’s Red Storm out of the Big…
