Memphis basketball guard Tyrese Hunter will not play in the team’s game against Temple due to a knee injury, according to a program spokesperson.

The 15th-ranked Tigers (19-4, 9-1 AAC) will host the Owls (14-9, 6-4) Sunday (1 p.m. ESPN2). Temple’s leading scorer Jamal Mashburn Jr. (lower body) will also be sidelined for today’s game.

The program is considering Hunter’s status as “day-to-day.”

Dante Harris will make the start in Hunter’s place. Harris transferred to Memphis from Virginia in December. He is averaging 2.0 points and 1.0 assists per game in nine games so far for the Tigers.

The former Texas and former Iowa State standout is Memphis’ second-leading scorer this season (14.5 points per game) and is also second on the team in assists (76). Hunter is also shooting 41.7% from the 3-point line, while averaging 34.8 minutes a game.

The Tigers have won six games in a row and are currently in sole possession of first place in the AAC.
