The Nebraska men’s basketball team returned home Sunday afternoon to host the Ohio State Buckeyes. After dropping six straight, the Huskers increased its winning streak to four, defeating the Buckeyes 79-71.

Ohio State held the lead heading into halftime, and the Huskers trailed until under 12 minutes left in the second. After Nebraska took back the lead, it kept the Buckeyes at bay, even going up by 11 with 45 seconds remaining. The Huskers finished near even with Ohio State in shooting, landing one more shot from the floor but nailing three less from beyond the arc.

But Nebraska struck in the paint, the board, and the free throw line. The Huskers scored 40 points in the paint and outrebounded the Buckeyes 37-28. Nebraska also hit 18-of-21 from the line, while Ohio State only landed 9-of-15.

Brice Williams and Juwan Gary continued to deliver the one-two combo for Nebraska, combining for 43 points and landing 16 of the Huskers’ 27 total made shots. Williams scored 24 points on the day and hauled in a team-high and season-high 10 rebounds to earn his first double-double of the season.

Gary finished 7-of-12 from the floor and 4-of-6 from the free throw line, racking up 19 points in just 25 minutes of play. Berke Büyüktuncel also scored double-digits, going 5-of-9 from the floor, including a team-high 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.

The Huskers improve to 16-8 on the season and 6-7 on the conference. They remain home to face Maryland on Thursday night. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network.
