How to watch Saturday’s UNC-Pitt ACC basketball rematch in Chapel Hill

The North Carolina Tar Heels head right back to the drawing board in hopes of turning their basketball season around, with the Pitt Panthers coming to Chapel Hill on Saturday, February 7 for a 4 p.m. tip-off.

UNC (13-10, 6-5 ACC) returns to the Dean Dome for the first time in two weeks. If you remember the Tar Heels’ January 25 home game, they needed overtime to squeak past Boston College, 102-96. Without late-game heroics that day from Drake Powell, Seth Trimble and RJ Davis, North Carolina could very easily be on a 5-game losing streak.

UNC hasn’t played since Feb. 1, when it was dominated 87-70 by archrival Duke in Durham. The Tar Heels couldn’t keep up with a taller, faster Blue Devils squad that currently looks like a National Championship favorite (I don’t like saying that, but it’s true).

Pitt (14-8, 5-6) is on a 2-game losing streak of its own, losing by two at Wake Forest last weekend and by 16, at home, to Virginia on Tuesday. The Panthers’ last victory came against North Carolina, though, winning 73-65 in Pennsylvania on Jan. 28.

There isn’t much going for the Tar Heels right now. They struggle to close out games, similar to non-conference play in November and December. UNC’s defense is particularly a glaring issue, allowing the opposition easy drives to the rim and open looks from deep. North Carolina is making do with Jalen Washington and Ven-Allen Lubin at the five spot, but the lack of an experienced center is showing.
