UNC basketball faces HUGE bubble game against Pitt

[ad_1]

As we come down the home stretch for the 2024-25 college basketball regular season, every game feels like a must-win for the North Carolina Tar Heels. But Saturday’s game against Pitt at home feels especially true for that statement.

After UNC went 0-2 last week, with losses at Pitt and Duke, they are now on the wrong side of the NCAA Tournament bubble. They need to win as many games as possible in their final nine to have a shot at the tournament and that starts Saturday against Pitt.

And it will be a big bubble game for both teams.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi released his latest Bracketology going into the weekend on Friday and in his mock projections, he has both UNC and Pitt in the “next four out” category. The Tar Heels and Panthers are joined by VCU and USC in that section and are behind Arkansas, Xavier, UCF and SMU in the “first four out”. So yeah, they have some work to do.

Saturday’s game is huge as the winner likely either moves into the “first four out” or even stays in the “next four out” while the winner probably drops out and really needs a miracle to get to the tournament. So to say this is a huge game for UNC, it’s an understatement, especially at home.
