Nebraska falls to Michigan after second quarter struggles

The Nebraska women’s basketball team returned home to host the Michigan Wolverines on Thursday night. The Huskers fell behind big at halftime, which haunted them in the second half, resulting in a 78-60 loss to the Wolverines.

Nebraska collapsed in the second quarter, allowing Michigan to go up 42-21 at halftime. The Wolverines outshot the Huskers by six, all from three-point range. Nebraska outscored Michigan 39-36 in the second half, but the 21-point deficit resulted in the Huskers’ loss.

The Huskers allowed the Wolverines to shoot 28-of-60 from the floor and 9-of-21 from beyond the arc. Nebraska only shot 22-of-59 and 3-of-15 respectively.

Alexis Markowski scored a team-high 21 points in the loss, being one of just two Nebraska players to score in the double digits on the night. Britt Prince finished with 10 points, going 4-of-13 from the floor and 2-of-3 from the free throw line.

Markowski shot 7-of-16 from the floor, 1-of-2 from beyond the arc and 6-of-9 from the line. She also hauled in a team-high 11 rebounds, chalking up her 48th career double-double.

The Huskers fall to 16-7 on the season and 7-5 in the conference. Nebraska remains home to face the Iowa Hawkeyes on Monday night. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network.
