Louisville basketball bracketology 2025: What seed is UofL in NCAA Tournament projections?

Louisville basketball has reached the dog days of ACC play; and Pat Kelsey’s Cardinals have an NCAA Tournament résumé to uphold.

In yet another down year for the conference, that means avoiding potholes like last weekend’s second-half collapse at Georgia Tech. U of L (17-6, 10-2) did just that Wednesday, routing Boston College on its home court by 26 points, but had its leading scorer and facilitator, senior point guard Chucky Hepburn, go down with an apparent lower-body injury during the process.

A prolonged absence for Hepburn would certainly lower Louisville’s March Madness ceiling. Even if he doesn’t miss a beat, the moment was a reminder of just how fickle, and important, every step of the way is from here on out.

“We tried to go in there cool,” Terrence Edwards Jr. said Wednesday, reflecting on the loss to the Yellow Jackets. “We’re not a cool, pretty program.”

With eight regular-season games remaining, let’s take a look at the Cards’ NCAA Tournament nitty gritties and where they stand in the latest round of bracketology:

Louisville moved up one spot Thursday in the NET, from 29th to 28th, after taking care of business at Boston College. Here’s its record by the all-important quadrants:

Quad 1: 3-5

Quad 2: 6-1

Quad 3: 4-0

Quad 4: 4-0

As of Thursday, the Cards ranked 27th in Wins Above Bubble (2.17); which reflects how much better a team is than those teetering between making and missing the NCAA Tournament cut.

Going off BartTorvik.com’s projections Thursday, U of L had defeated only two teams in the field of 68: West Virginia, a No. 9 seed, and Clemson, a No. 10 seed. SMU and North Carolina were among the first four out; and Wake Forest and Pittsburgh were among the next four out.

Torvik on…
