Wisconsin basketball (18-5, 8-4 Big Ten) added to its growing NCAA Tournament resume with a 76-64 win over Indiana on Tuesday.
The Badgers led by as many as 23 points at 70-47 with 4:36 remaining. They took their foot off the pedal in those final minutes, allowing Indiana to trim the final margin to 12. Still, it is another result added to a growing list of decisive home victories for the Badgers. The team is 12-1 in the Kohl Center this season, plus 6-0 against Big Ten teams since Jan. 1.

Wisconsin’s triumph qualifies as a Quad 2 victory in the NCAA NET system, as Indiana’s No. 64 ranking firmly sits within Quad 2’s range of home games against teams ranked No. 31-75. The result brings Wisconsin’s record in Quad 2 games to 6-0, bolstering a resume that currently has the team listed as a four-seed in most bracket projections.
National polls are currently aligned on Wisconsin’s strong form. The Badgers fell at No. 21 in the AP Poll and No. 17 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll on Monday. Those marks even slightly trail the team’s current NET Ranking of No. 16. The Badgers have combined ‘strong’ victories and ‘good’ losses throughout the year, with their only five losses coming against top-tier opponents Marquette (NET No. 18), Michigan (No. 17), Illinois (No. 12), UCLA (No. 26) and Maryland (No. 15).
Rating metrics also reflect Wisconsin’s position as a potential contender to win the Big Ten and make a deep run in March. The win over Indiana maintained already-strong positions in both KenPom and ESPN’s BPI:
KenPom: No. 13 overall (no change) and No. 2 in the Big Ten. Led by the metric’s No. 9-ranked offense and No. 45-ranked defense. Those results against the 14th-toughest schedule in the sport.
ESPN’s BPI: No. 22 overall (no change) and No. 5 in the Big Ten, with a projected record of 23-8 and a 11.9% chance to win the Big Ten.
