UNC basketball falls again in Bracketology

North Carolina entered last week on the bubble and needs to find a way to win a game to help their tournament chances. Instead, they went 0-2 with road losses to Pitt and Duke.

Those two losses damaged North Carolina’s resume and now, going into a week where they host Pitt, the Tar Heels are still on the outside looking in.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi released his updated Bracketology going into this week of games on Tuesday and he has North Carolina falling to the “next four out” category. They are joined by a pair of other ACC programs in Wake Forst and SMU as well as Arkansas.

Ahead of UNC in the “first four out” category are UCF, Xavier, Arizona State and USC.

It’s clear that North Carolina has some work to do moving forward. They have nine games left this season beginning Saturday with a home game against Pitt. The Panthers just beat UNC and are among the “last four teams” in for Lunardi’s projected bracket. A win on Saturday would be huge for UNC but they really need to close out the season strong and likely have to go 7-2 to feel any better about their chances.

But for now, they need to take it one game at a time.
