MADISON – Each Monday the Journal Sentinel will look at Wisconsin’s previous week and assess how its résumé has changed and stacks up to the competition.

All rankings are through Sunday unless noted otherwise.

The Badgers are 17-5 overall and 7-4 in the Big Ten following a comeback victory over Northwestern Saturday.

Wisconsin basketball scores in the last week

Jan. 29 at Maryland: Early foul trouble, subpar free throw shooting, an early rash of turnovers and the inability to finish plays it normally completes combined to send Wisconsin to a 76-68 loss. Graduate guard John Tonje posted 23 points and graduate center Steven Crowl added 10 points and nine rebounds.

Feb. 1 at Northwestern:  John Tonje (27 points) posted his fourth straight 20-point game, but the stories of the day were Carter Gilmore’s career-high 15 points and the Badgers’ second half comeback from nine points down. The 75-69 UW win marked the team’s biggest comeback of the season and it allowed the team to finish the week in a three-way tie for third place with Maryland and UCLA in the Big Ten.
