The Nebraska men’s basketball team traveled to the Pacific Northwest on Sunday night for their first-ever conference clash with the Oregon Ducks. Despite the Huskers struggling on the road, they took down the No. 16 Ducks for their second straight ranked win.
Nebraska took control of the game in the first half, building up a 15-point lead with under five minutes left. Though the Huskers allowed numerous teams to come back this season, they held their ground against Oregon, never allowing it to come within four points in the second half.
Nebraska shot 26-of-51 from the floor, 4-of-23 from beyond the arc and 21-of-29 from the free throw line. The Ducks finished 24-of-60 in total shooting, 5-of-20 from three-point range and 18-of-22 from the line.
Brice Williams and Juwan Gary once again led the charge for Nebraska, combining for 51 points and finishing 16-of-28 from the floor and 16-of-19 from the free-throw line. Williams dropped 28 points, shooting 10-of-18 and 6-of-7, respectively. He also hauled in seven rebounds and a team-high six assists.
Gary finished with 23 points, going 6-of-10 from the floor and 10-of-12 from the free throw line. Rollie Worster and Andrew Morgan both shot a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor. Worster also finished 3-of-4 from the free throw line to tally up 11 points. Morgan scored eight points in the win.
Nebraska improves to 14-8 on the season and 4-7 in the conference. The Huskers remain out west, heading up to Seattle to face fellow conference newcomer the Washington Huskies on Wednesday night. Tipoff is set for 9:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
