Michigan State basketball’s first loss in more than two months cost them in this week’s USA TODAY Top 25 Coaches Poll.
The Spartans dropped two spots to No. 9 in this week’s rankings after a rough start to their Los Angeles road trip.
MSU (18-3, 9-1 Big Ten) had its 13-game win streak snapped Saturday with a 70-64 road loss at USC in which the Trojans led start to finish. The Spartans blew out Minnesota last Tuesday, 73-51.

Tom Izzo will try and tie Bob Knight’s Big Ten record of 353 conference wins Tuesday when MSU plays at UCLA (10 p.m., Peacock).
The Spartans then return home to face Oregon on Saturday at Breslin Center in East Lansing (noon, Fox).
MSU is also ranked ninth in the Associated Press poll.
