Gators hoops dips one spot in Week 13 AP Top 25 Poll

A 20-point loss has the potential to cripple an elite team’s ranking, but the Florida Gators only fell one spot to No. 6 in the AP Top 25 Men’s College Basketball Poll this week, following a blowout loss to Tennessee.

The Auburn Tigers remain the unanimous No. 1 in college basketball, followed by Duke, Alabama, Tennessee and Houston. Florida is just 62 points outside of the top five with a 61-point cushion on No. 7 Purdue. The Gators face unranked Vanderbilt and Auburn over the next week, so there’s an opportunity for the Gators to jump right back into the mix.

SEC teams ranked inside AP Top 25

Texas A&M joined the top 10 this week, following a win over South Carolina, and Kentucky and Missouri occupy the Nos. 14 and 15 spots, respectively. Mississippi State took a hit this week, dropping eight spots to No. 22, and Ole Miss is clinging to a spot in the rankings at No. 25, giving the SEC nine ranked programs. The Big Ten is the next closest conference with six teams ranked after Week 13.

Vanderbilt (4), Texas (1) and Oklahoma (1) all received votes this week, but have some ground to cover before returning to top-25 status. The Gators host the Commodores Tuesday night in Gainesville.
