WEST LAFAYETTE — For the second time in as many games, Indiana basketball melted down in the final seconds.
The Hoosiers made a series of blunders on their final two possessions earlier in the week in a loss to Maryland only to experience similar communication breakdowns on Friday night in a 81-76 loss to No. 10 Purdue at Mackey Arena that left players arguing with each other in the huddle.
Indiana (14-8, 5-6 Big Ten) had multiple timeouts to spare after Purdue forward Trey Kaufman-Renn gave his team a lead with 11 seconds to go, but Myles Rice dribbled the length of the floor and had a mid-range jumper near the baseline that was blocked.

Woodson was hoping to get the ball in the hands of Trey Galloway, who was having a lot of success in the second half on high pick-and-rolls with Oumar Ballo. Galloway scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half and he had a team-high five assists.
“Once he (Rice) took off, I couldn’t get to him, it was too late,” Woodson said. “The officials had been bye, again that’s we got to connect better. That’s just the bottom line.”
Purdue coach Matt Painter said his team was “fortunate” that Galloway never touched the ball in that sequence.
“Let’s just be frank about it, because he was making plays,” Painter said.
Ballo, who walked off the floor without going through the handshake line, confronted Rice at the next stoppage. He was initially held back by Galloway and a member of the support staff, but started shouting at Rice and stared him down until Anthony Leal pulled him off to the side in an attempt to calm him down.
Rice spent much of the second half on the bench amidst a career-worst performance. He went scoreless (0 for 4) for the first time in 57 career games and only played five minutes in the second half.
