Just when Kansas State’s basketball team seems to be finally hitting its stride, here comes a road trip to Ames, Iowa, and Hilton Coliseum, one of the most challenging venues in the Big 12.

The Wildcats (9-11, 3-6 Big 12) are coming off decisive back-to-back home victories over West Virginia and Oklahoma State for their first winning streak since the start of December but now must take on a No. 3-ranked Iowa State team (17-3, 7-2) that has not fallen out of the top 10 all season.

“Iowa State, home or on the road, they’re an incredible team,” K-State coach Jerome Tang said of the Cyclones. “They can throw so many different problems at you on the offensive end, and then they’re one of the best defensive teams in the country, and they turn you over.

“And you’ve got to go to Hilton, and that’s one of the best atmospheres in college basketball.”

Here are three things to know, plus a prediction, for Saturday’s game.

The Wildcats have dropped 15 straight road games, including all six this season. All but two losses were by double digits with the exception of a 63-62 loss at TCU and 70-62 setback at Baylor. They led both games in the second half but were unable to finish.

The Cyclones not only are unbeaten at home, but they have crushed opponents by an average of 27 points at Hilton. Their closest call was an 81-70 decision against Marquette, which currently is ranked No. 9.
